Founder of the British Humane Society
Louis Campbell-Johnston (1861 - 1929)

Louis Campbell Johnston was an English diplomat who made a substantial donation to the BHA on behalf of the Guild and St John’s Ambulance. His contribution established them as founding members and granted both organizations, along with the Campbell Johnston family, the right to appoint three directors (trustees) each to the BHA. The BHA remains active today, although it has evolved considerably over the years.
